You’ve put a lot of time and effort into your garden. You’ve curated a real paradise for yourself, including green spots, focal points, and as many edible plants and beautiful flowers as you could physically get into the ground. However, you’re starting to notice some cracks in this wonderful surface – there’s clearly something eating its way through your garden, and you’re just not sure what it is or what to do about it!
Well, we might have some answers for you below. Always do your research when trying to eradicate a garden menace, and never let it get the best of you. As the gardener in control, you always have the upper hand!
Animals Are Getting In
Animals getting into your garden can wreak havoc in the area and cause your yard to become an absolute disaster zone. One of the easiest ways to avoid this is by making sure that you are using professional fence installation services. This will keep most larger animals off your property. You should also keep your garden neat and tidy so that it does not provide the right environment for different critters.
Fungus is Starting to Grow
Fungus is naturally occurring and can be helpful, but if it’s growing all over your leaves, you’re going to want to get rid of it as soon as possible, particularly before it spreads. If you’re seeing signs like ‘scabby’ discolourations on your leaves, be sure to get rid of any affected leaves, even if they’re no longer on the plant.
At the same time, be on the lookout for mildew. This will grow in a ‘powdery’ pattern, and it’s certainly not something you want to let linger – be sure to provide plants with plenty of sunlight if you notice this kind of fungi growing.
Bugs are Eating Through Your Leaves
Bugs are everywhere in the outside world, and there really isn’t much we can do about it! Indeed, you might not even want to – the more bugs you have, the better your garden clearly is, because they’re comfortable to make their homes there.
However, some bugs are better to have around than others, because some are little pests that are going to eat their way through your leaves. Holes in your leaves, or wilting, or even visible eggs are all very big indicators you’ve got a pest problem! So, if you notice any of the above signs, be sure to get on the phone to pest control as soon as possible, if your own efforts aren’t quite working to keep them away.
Your Own Solutions
And finally, your own efforts to keep your plants safe from other pests or diseases could be the very thing that’s harming them. Damage from weed killer and pesticides is very obvious on plant leaves – they’ll start to yellow and grow brown spots, or even just begin to wilt and die out of nowhere. If you notice this in your plants, stop using the particular brand of solution, and be sure to cut off and get rid of any affected shoots, leaves, and stems. Try to find a more organic or biological solution for next time!
Do you know what’s causing the damage in your plants outside? Your garden could be susceptible to all kinds of damage – make sure you know the worst and/or most likely kinds, and be sure to stop the problems in their tracks before they get much worse!
