Handling The Toughest Places To Clean In Your Home

If you’re looking to stay on top of the housework, wiping down the surfaces, vacuuming, and keeping things neat and organized is going to take a little time, but not too much effort. Still, your work can be undermined if your home has some spots that haven’t been really tackled in quite some time, often because those spots are tough to clean. Here, we’re going to look at some of the toughest parts of the house to clean and what you can do about them.

The stovetop

Anywhere that you prepare food can get messy quickly and stovetops are extra special thanks to all of the grease and mess they attract. There are specially made grease softening products that you should spray on them ahead of time. Beyond that, however, hot water and a microfiber cloth are enough to get the job off and to scrub them clean. It just takes a little elbow juice is all.

The carpets

Out of all of the flooring types, carpets can be a hassle due to the fact that fabric traps spills, dust, debris, and allergens much more than others. Vacuuming to get rid of dust is essential and spot cleaning as soon as you make a spill can prevent a stain. If you can’t get to it in time, however, your options are to buy a carpet cleaner or to work with a carpet cleaning company. Given that few people need to give the carpet a deep clean more than once every few years, most tend to go with the latter.

Your vents

Vents play an important role in helping airflow throughout the home and they’re designed to filter dust and allergens out of the air as well. However, that also means that they tend to catch and trap that dust. Turn off your heating and AC, unscrew the duct covers and vacuum them. You might need to rent a vacuum specifically for the task as household vacuums typically aren’t powerful enough. Clean the grilles beneath, too. You might want to equip yourself with a dust mask since there can be truly a lot of dust here.

The shower area

Hot, humid, and with slick, smooth surfaces, your whole shower area can attract bacteria like nothing normal. Mold is the biggest issue here so you want to make sure that you’re getting mold cleaning products, spray them on the affected areas, and simply wipe them down after.

Your mattress

You want to keep your mattress clean as, well, you sleep there. Made of fabric as they are, mattresses can attract a lot of bacteria and allergens, not to mention get dustier as time goes on. The best way to deal with mattresses is to vacuum and dust them on a routine basis but also flip them over every couple of months.

Unless a stain or mark is well and truly left there permanently, there should be nothing that you can’t clean with the right technique, technology, or help. The above examples should prove no problem with the tips provided.
